 | | Hannah Lide Coker, former music librarian and music faculty member at the University of Richmond and the granddaughter of the founder of Coker College in Hartsville, S.C., died at a local hospital June 9, 1997, after a lengthy illness. |
 | | As a young woman, she attended classes at Coker in preparation for her study at Westhampton College at the University of Richmond where she was graduated in 1923 with a bachelor's degree in English and history. |
 | | After a year's study with pianist Robert Casadesus in Paris, she taught at Judson College (Ala.) from 1927-29, was supervisor of music for the Hartsville Public Schools from 1929-38, and attended Coker College, from which she received a second degree in 1940, this one in music. |
