Mr Burgon said he showed the minister a leaflet distributed in the Garforth area by Leeds city councillor Andrew Millard (Con, Wetherby), which claimed Mr Burgon "had been advised" of the plan to build the prison in Garforth.
It also claimed Mr Burgon was being informed of the decision – a claim the MP strongly denies.

John Burgon points out that it is easier to find two consecutive verses in which the two manuscripts differ, than two consecutive verses in which they entirely agree.

Keynote speaker for the day was Colin Burgon, MP for Leeds Elmet, who described some of the wide-ranging planning issues which his constituents bring to him, from mobile phone masts to the design of a neighbour's conservatory.
Colin has also been involved with large scale regeneration projects, in particular the re-development of Allerton Bywater, a former mining village on the outskirts of Leeds.

Now it seems some MPs are unhappy with the way the service allows their constituents to get in touch with them easily.
The first complaint was from Colin Burgon, Labour member for Elmet, Yorkshire, via the Parliamentary Communications Directorate, asking not to receive any more unsolicited faxes.
The good folk at FaxyourMP said that both messages it had relayed to the MP were bona-fide.
