The college students, it should be mentioned, are freshman students who have difficulties in mathematics as indicated by standardized tests. The objectives of the mentoring programs are to: Enhance student's interest in Mathematics Increase retention in the College's Math Program Promote dialogue as a process toward understanding and improve the quality of teaching in the classroom.
Student performance in mathematics both at the college and the elementary schools has improved. We intend to continue the mentoring program at the two elementary schools.
