 Collingwood Collegiate Institute
A grammar school was established in 1857, before the Town of Collingwood was incorporated in 1858.
Part of the school was built on a marshy swamp, and in later years there were problems, such as when the gym floor bulged, and digging into the high water table when an elevator was installed.
In 2001, Collingwood Collegiate Institute, is home to over a 1400 students and 80 teachers, many of whom participate in the many sports, clubs and organizations offered at Collingwood CI in addition to their regular classes.

The Countess of Wessex celebrated her 40th birthday by opening a new sixth form centre at Collingwood School in Surrey, receiving flowers, balloons and a birthday cake to mark the special day.
On arrival at the school, the Countess was taken on a tour of the new sixth form centre by Head Boy Nick Ghiacy and Head Girl Kim Dales, before unveiling a plaque to mark the official opening of the facility.
During the tour, Her Royal Highness was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Kelly Humphryes, a sixth form student at Collingwood School who shares the Countess's birthday, and had turned 18 that day.

NMIT is intent on providing real avenues to employment and further education for early school leavers to those aged in their seventies who might want to return to study.
It was classified as a trades school by the State Education Department, offering carpentry, fitting and turning, plumbing, bricklaying and plastering, with courses in electrical wiring and electrical and mechanical engineering introduced two years later.

We are a special school with pupils who travel into Morpeth on bus and taxi from Alnwick, Amble, Hexham and also Rothbury and beyond.
The children were extremely interested in the development and creation of this and felt it was definitely about them and their world.

We also had a garbage pick-up aound the school grounds and we encircled the school with a mass hug in a symbolic gesture representing hugging the earth.

On the morning of March 17th, 2003 there will be a ceremonial march of Admiral Collingwood students and staff, both past and present, from the historic school building at Hume and Hurontario Streets to the new Admiral Collingwood Elementary School on Dey Drive, in Collingwood.
With the lowering of the flag, the school community (staff, students, parents and other community members) will then parade south along Hurontario Street, turning east on Lockhart Drive and south on Dey Drive to the new school.
Upon arrival at the new Admiral Collingwood Public School the flag will be raised and a "launching" of the ship inspired building will take place followed by a reception in the main foyer.

St Joseph's School in Collingwood is named after St Joseph the Worker whose feast is celebrated on May 1.
Later in 1858 the three schools merged to form the Stanley St Catholic School and in 1860 all of the girls moved to the present site in Otter St and the boys to Moor St, Fitzroy combining with the Collingwood Quarries School (which had opened in 1855 in Kerr St Fitzroy).

Parents, the Mayor, one of the members of our town council, members of the Georgian Trail Committee and another school from our town were also present for the event.
Instead of charging money for tickets to see the performance, we asked for donations to support the Georgian trail which is a hiking and biking trail used by students, residents of the town and tourists.
