 Harpenden Football Match Report
Unfortunately it was Colney who started the 2nd half the brighter and the Harpenden midfield in particular were working hard to keep the ball and to stifle the Colney Heath attacks.
Credit must go to Colney Heath for their never say die attitude and they came back strongly during the last 20 minutes, their efforts being rewarded with a goal direct from a free kick as the flight of the ball deceived both defenders and attackers as well as the Harpenden 'keeper.
The last 10 minutes were tense as Colney pushed for the equaliser and they had one shot headed off the line and a header hit the crossbar.

Tottenham Ladies were at home Colney Heath this week, but although the girls put in a much better performance than the previous week, a better result was not to be.
With the score at 1-0 to Colney Heath at half time, Tottenham Ladies were far from out of the game as they created several chances, but a combination of good goalkeeping and bad finishing meant we were unable to breach the visitors goal.
As early as the 6th minute, Colney pounced on an under-hit back-pass from Curtis to take the lead and worse was to come as Spurs struggled to adjust to the pace of the game.

A mechanical digger has been shifting mounds of earth at Colney Heath in Hertfordshire, scooping out a moat eight feet wide along its famous common to keep out the gipsies - a perfect example of the medieval measures being used against the Romany peoples.
A Cardiganshire rural district clerk summed up a common attitude when, after the eviction of a band of local gipsies, he said: “People feel that the gipsy is not acceptable - his way of living is an offence to everyone, he is destructive, nasty, and lives on his wits.”
From the “NO GIPSIES SERVED” of some Kent pubs, to the constant, harrying “move on and keep moving” of police and local authorities, and the dark-ages moat at Colney Heath, the gipsy is victimised.
