 The 'Hottentot Venus'
A, a Bushwoman (the famous 'Hottentot Venus'); B, a Korana woman; C, the external genitalia of a Bushwoman, standing upright; D. the same, of a Bushwoman lying down with the labia minora separated and turned aside.
In the early days of European colonization at the Cape of Good Hope, the Hottentots were in much closer contact with the newcomers than were the Bushmen, and the facts to be recounted were probably first noticed in Khoids.
This is what Darwin implied in the case of Hottentot women, in whom 'the posterior part of the body projects in a wonderful manner.' He mentions the admiration felt for this peculiarity by the males of their tribe.

ISECCo Home Page: A CELSS (Biosphere) Research Center
Although the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was mandated by the Space Settlement Act of 1988 to actually move from space exploration toward space colonization in our solar system, science experiments in key areas are slow to materialize.
Even terraforming Mars, Venus, the Moon or other planets (should that ever move from the realm of science fiction to science news) will need biosphere technology, which is very similar to CELSS technology.
Life in a space colony or life on Mars or life on the moon remains limited to space colonization diagrams and daydreams that provide excellent ideas, but lack the funding to carry them foreward.

ITSF Brochure: Colonization of Space: Colonization of Other Planets
A novel that deals exclusively with colonization and the problems that could be faced by colonists is "Legacy of Heorot" (1987) by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Steven Barnes.
Colonization of other planets is a common theme in science fiction.
Another nearby colonization effort is described in David Drake's novel "Surface Action" (1990).

Colonization of Mars - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
However, conditions on Mars are much closer to habitability than the furnace-hot temperatures on Mercury and Venus, the cryogenic cold of the outer planets or the hard vacuum of the Moon and asteroids.
Mars is much colder than Earth, with a mean surface temperature of minus 63°C and a low of minus 140°C. There are no standing bodies of liquid water on the surface of Mars.
NASA included communications relay equipment in several of its Mars orbiters, so Mars already has communications satellites.

National Institute for Discovery Science: The Reenchantment of the Solar System: A Proposed Search for Local ET’s
The solar system was enchanted by the presence of those gods and goddesses of the ancient pantheon — called Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn by citizens of the Roman world.
If starships have crossed to our solar system within past eons (perhaps accelerated by solar sails and decelerated by a combination of magnetic reflection of interstellar ions and solar sails), they may have created a myriad of artificial worldlets from asteroidal and cometary material.
The originating star systems for these advanced beings could be solar-type stars that fortuitously approach our Sun within a light year or so at intervals of about a million years or nearby stars that have left the main sequence, prompting interstellar migration.

Planetary Studies began with studies of the propulsion requirements to reach Mars and Venus, as well as projected instruments for scientific probes, and now include considerations on how other worlds might be made more hospitable for mankind.
A dying star: this NASA Hubble Space Telescope image of NGC 6543 (nicknamed the "Cat's Eye Nebula") taken in 1994 shows one of the most complex planetary nebulae ever seen - a "fossil record" of the dynamics and late evolution of a dying star, estimated to be 1000 years old.
Lunar studies have been consistently advocated since the Society's first Lunar Mission Design in 1938-39 and are being continued to the present day with JBIS papers on the Return to and the Colonisation of the Moon.

The moon’s parched surface seems positively hospitable in comparison to the other options: as a giant ball of gas, Jupiter would take a lot of getting used to, while the heat on Venus would require more than a rickety old air-conditioning system.
Up until now, all this talk of people-pods on the moon has been the stuff of science fiction, but according to Bernard Foing of the European Space Agency, the technology will soon be available to set up an outpost to welcome visiting astronauts.
In the decades before Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin touched down on the moon’s surface for the first time, space travel was the subject of speculation and wonder.

 Definition of Lightning
Lightning on Venus occurs so often that it is speculated that, were colonization to ever occur on Venus, lightning would be a primary power source.
Lightning was initially observed travelling up at around 50,000 m per second in a similar way to a typical blue jet, but then divided in two and speeded to 250,000 m / second to the ionosphere, where they spread out in a bright burst of light.
Many of these deaths could be prevented if basic precautions were taken when thunderstorms are expected in an area.

Parallax Reviews: 'Forbidden Planet', Forbidden Fruit
In 1956, the last flickering hope for the eventual colonization of Venus died when the planetary surface temperature was measured, via emitted microwaves, to far exceed the boiling point of water.
Like a forbidden fruit, the Forbidden Planet contained knowledge and technology that far surpassed human responsibility (or Krell responsibility, as they too were destroyed by their own devices), providing a not-so-subtle societal warning about the instability of human nature, especially in regards to destructive technology.
Of course Bellerophon, in an ominous bit of foreshadowing, was the Corinthian hero in Greek mythology who defeated the chimera with Pegasus, only to dramatically prove that humans are not gods as he plunged to his death trying to reach Mount Olympus.

The guidance of Islam is for human excellence and governance in all fields of life; whether it be the stem-cell research or attempts to conquer the Mars and the Venus.
Accordingly, they try to make others believe that it is the “modern Islamist political thinkers” who have devised the term “Islamic state” in order to reconcile their romanticized vision of the Islamic polity with the existence of sovereign states on the European model that were products of the twin processes of colonization and decolonization.[10]

Paul says, "Sociology strength is in its ability to entertain all types of different methods, different theories (world views), and different individuals." I think that sociology is weakened precisely because sociologists do *not* propose to link their hypotheses to an underlying, verifiable proposition.

Khoisan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Khoisan people were the original inhabitants of much of southern Africa before the southward Bantu migrations--coming down the east and west coasts of Africa--and later European colonization.
Two distinguishing features of Khoisan women are their elongated labia minora and tendency to steatopygia,[1] features which contributed greatly to the European fascination with the so-called Hottentot Venus.
Physically, however, the Khoisan, with their short frames, yellow-brown skin, "peppercorn" hair, epicanthic eye folds and small arms and feet, are quite distinct from the darker-skinned peoples who constitute the majority of Africa's population.
