Some of the moons of the outer planets of the solar system are large enough to be suitable places for colonization.
The idea of using asteroids as a source of minerals (asteroid mining) for space colonization is common in science fiction, since they are plentiful, rocky, and have low escape velocities.
There are some difficulties related to colonization of Europa; one significant problem is a high level of radiation from Jupiter's radiation belt, which is approximately 10 times as strong as Earth's Van Allen radiation belts.

As a result, either the colonization of asteroids is a dead-end, or some sort of artificial gravity would have to be induced (discussed in Artificial Gravity).
This is of course understandable since the conditions on any of the gas giants or their moons are far worse than those on Mars or any asteroid (with the possible exception of Titan which is known to have large amounts of organic chemicals, but at the moment is still much too distant for human exploration).

Colonization of those bodies is in fact much less desirable than orbital colonization, even though Mars and the Moon are the only practical solid bodies suitable for colonization in the solar system, at least for the next few centuries.
Space solar power can be generated by solar cells on large panels as with current satellites, or by concentrators that focus sunlight on a fluid, perhaps water, which is vaporized and used to turn turbines.
Colonizing the Moon with nuclear fuel shipped from Earth will also be expensive, and we can probably rule it out as a practical approach to generating large amounts of power.

Also, due to the presense of the binary star, the outer worlds of the Solar System are much warmer, and some moons of the gas giant planets might in fact be water worlds, somewhat similar to early Earth.
For the outer planet moons- there isn't any big enough to hold atmosphere which could support terrestrial life so the only affect having extra sunlight would have for life would be making it easier for humans in colonization of the area in the future.
