Topic: Color charge

Color charge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quarks and antiquarks have color charge 4/3, whereas gluons have color charge 8.
Mathematically speaking, the color charge of a particle is the value of a certain quadratic Casimir operator in the representation of the particle.
Color charge conservation means that the ends of these color-lines must be either in the initial or final state, equivalently, that no lines break in the middle of a diagram.

 The Color Force
Color is the strong interaction analog to charge in the electromagnetic force.
The term "color" was introduced to label a property of the quarks which allowed apparently identical quarks to reside in the same particle, for example, two "up" quarks in the proton.
The idea of color is supported by the fact that all commonly observed particles have either three quarks (baryons) or two (mesons), the combinations which can be "colorless" or "color neutral" with the three values of color.

The Origin of Matter and Information
In this case the vlq identity charge of the neutrino particle pair annihilates the anti-identity charge of Lq in the leptoquark particle pair.
Because the gluons which carry the color charge are composed of color-anticolor charge pairs in all possible combinations, the gluon field as a whole sums to zero color.
The color field will sum to zero physically if the quarks are sufficiently compressed, yet return to full color charge when the compressive forces are relaxed and the quarks expand under the influence of their mutually repulsive forces (both electric and quantum mechanical).

Electron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Electrostatic charge can be generated by rubbing amber with the pelt of an animal such as a cat.
This is an effect common to all elementary particles: the particle influences the vacuum fluctuations in its vicinity, so that the properties one observes from far away are the sum of the bare properties and the vacuum effects (see renormalization).
Note that this is the radius that one could infer from its charge if the physics were only described by the classical theory of electrodynamics and there were no quantum mechanics (hence, it is an outdated concept that nevertheless sometimes still proves useful in calculations).

Hourglass Diagrams Text: the Fractal Relationship Between the Dimensional Metric of Light and the Particle Metric of ...
While the strong force, quarks, gluons, and color charges may seem very complex, they are undoubtedly the simplest system which is sufficient to break the symmetry of the primordial elementary particle-antiparticle pairs.
If their decays require electric charge conservation, then a lepton or a charged meson must be extracted from the virtual particle "sea" by the weak force W; flavor transformations among the quarks of a baryon likewise require the services of the W to produce flavor charges from the mesons of the virtual sea.
Color and identity charge converge in the formation of the fractured leptonic particle that is the leptoquark and the ancestor of both the baryons and the leptons.

In addition, leptons (such as the electron, the muon, and the neutrino) have integral electric charge (−1 or 0 in units of the proton charge) while quarks have fractional electric charge (+⅔ or −⅓; antiquarks have charge −⅔ or +⅓ and antileptons have charge +1 or 0).
Quarks' colors are called "red", "green", or "blue" to suggest the primary colors, while anti-quarks are anti-red or "cyan", anti-green or "magenta", and anti-blue or "yellow".
Particles of different color charge are attracted and particles of like color charge are repelled by the color force, which is transferred by gluons, particles that themselves carry color charge (one color and one anti-color).

 Theory: Color Charge
If we could examine the color of the quark and antiquark in a meson, there would be equal probability of finding each color quark together with its matching (anti-color) antiquark.
This apparently arbitrary statement is part of the mathematics of color charge.
They are either leptons, particles with no color charges inside them, or hadrons, particles made of quarks and gluons.

Color image sensor - Patent 4709259
To reproduce a color print having proper densities and well-balanced colors, three color densities of the color original are measured at each point of the color original to control the exposure quantities of red, green and blue colors at the time of printing a color paper on the basis of the measured three color densities.
The red color photoelectric conversion unit 3 is constructed of a red filter and a photodiode, the green color photoelectric conversion unit 4 is constructed of a green filter and a photodiode, and the blue color photoelectric conversion unit 5 is constructed of a blue filter and a photodiode.
The same color charge signals of the photoelectric conversion units within the single-pixel measuring unit are read and added together so that a three-color separation measurement can be performed without any substantial hindrance of the exposure control for a color printer.

Just as a mix of red, green, and blue light yields white light, in a baryon a combination of "red," "green," and "blue" color charges is color neutral, and in an antibaryon "antired," "antigreen," and "antiblue" is also color neutral.
Because gluon-emission and -absorption always changes color, and -in addition - color is a conserved quantity - gluons can be thought of as carrying a color and an anticolor charge.
"Color charge" has nothing to do with the visible colors, it is just a convenient naming convention for a mathematical system physicists developed to explain their observations about quarks in hadrons.

This color scheme is particularly useful for distinguishing the parts of multimeric structure or the individual 'strands' of a DNA chain.
The N termini of proteins are colored blue (similar to the CPK color for nitrogen) and the C termini, red (similar to the CPK color for oxygen).

 color charge
The source of color force between quarks and gluons in quantum chromodynamics, just as electrical charge is the source of the force between charged particles and photons.
There are three types of charges possesed by the quarks and gluons of normal matter: red, green and blue.
Quarks are not actually colored—this is just a metaphor for the fact that quarks are always found in groups consisting of all three colors or anticolors (the baryons) or one color and its anticolor (the mesons) or even both (the pentaquark consists of a triplet and a pair).

The point is that, as I wrote, colour charge (red, green,\nblue) labels the three components of quarks associated to the\nfundamental representation of the colour SU(3) group.\n\nNow, also the complex conjugated components of a vector in the\nfundamental-representation space of SU(3) form a(n irreducible)\nrepresentation of SU(3), which is not equivalent to the fundamental\nrepresentation.

In particular, the color charges are conserved in all physical processes, and there are photon-like massless particles, called color gluons, that respond in appropriate ways to the presence or motion of color charge, very similar to the way photons respond to electric charge.
First of all, the response of gluons to color charge, as measured by the QCD coupling constant, is much more vigorous than the response of photons to electric charge.
Due to the commingling of color and flavor, the electric charges of particles, which originally depended only on their flavor, are modified.

Yet we never see color charge even if we try to break up protons and neutrons into their constituent parts (colored quarks).

The colored quarks of one proton can glue themselves to the colored quarks of another proton, even though the protons themselves are color neutral.
