		Color space conversion is what happens when the color management module (CMM) translates color from one device's space to another.
		The white point is the location of the purest and lightest white in a color space (also see discussion of color temperature).
		This color shift results because the white point of the color space usually needs to align with that of the light source or paper tint used.

	CIE Color System
		This system offers more precision in color measurement than do the Munsell and Ostwald systems because the parameters are based on the spectral power distribution (SPD) of the light emitted from a colored object and are factored by sensitivity curves which have been measured for the human eye.
		The colors which can be matched by combining a given set of three primary colors (such as the blue, green,a nd red of a color television screen) are represented on the chromaticity diagram by a triangle joining the coordinates for the three colors.

		Conversion between Java color spaces is simplified by a set of methods that map a color from a represented color space to either sRGB or CIEXYZ and transform a sRGB or CIEXYZ color space to the represented color space.
		The sRGB color space is somewhat limited in that it cannot represent every color in the full gamut (spectrum of representable colors) of CIEXYZ color.

		Colors that are outside the paper gamut need to be mapped using a "perceptual" rendering intent.
		RC is best when only a small portion of colors from the source space will get clipped as the slight compression to the out-of-gamut colors is acceptable and the main body of colors is kept relatively intact.
		Perceptual is going to be the better choice when a large portion of colors from the source space are going to get clipped, as more compression is required to “fit” all of the colors in the target space and still maintain smooth tonal gradations.

		While the CIE chart is a very useful tool, the color space it defines does not provide an intuitive model for our color vision system or the devices we use to reproduce color.

		Suppose the space of photic stimuli is the metric space X and the perceptual color space is the metric space Y.
		If a continuous mapping between the space of photic stimuli and perceptual color space is to be defined, it will be necessary to remove the one--to--many relationship implied by the current formulations of the space of photic stimuli.

	ColorFix
		Color space theory is quite complex and a full discussion is beyond the scope of this document, although the rest of this document may not make much sense unless you have a general idea what a color space is. (The International Color Consortium (ICC) page has some good reading material).
		If all three of these items (color gamut, white point, and tonal reproduction curve) are known for both the input and output color spaces, then the colors in an image can be converted from one space to another.
