On 10 August 1981 the Commissioners' Court of Colorado County accepted and adopted a flag presented to it by Bernice Koliba, wife of former State Representative Homer Koliba.
The flag is a vertical tricolor of blue, white and red with a central blue star around which appear the name of the county and the date of its organization, 1837.
The need for a flag was recognized when preparations were being made for the Texas Youth Rodeo finals in Kingsville, and the Colorado County entrants had no flag to carry in the opening parade.

He was married in Bibb County, Alabama in 1853; he joined the Confederate Army in Verona, Mississippi, originally Co. G, 41 Rg't Mississippi Volunteers which became Company "K" of the 41st Regiment on May 12, 1862, and he was living in Texas by 1880.
In Texas, he lived in Milam, Lavaca, Dewitt and Colorado Counties before his death in 1914 apparently in Colorado County though there is no death certificate.
He received one of the original land grants in Texas, and his name as well as his son John's, who also received a land grant, appear on the original land grant map for the area in Colorado County, Texas.
