  Dictionary of Vexillology: C (Class Flag - Conducting Colours)
A small triangular flag designed to be hung vertically usually charged with the emblem and livery colours of a sporting club (see also ‘livery colours’, ’pennant 2’ and ‘souvenir flags’).
Please note that the self-adopted flags of various non-governmental or semi-governmental organizations, whilst often being given the reverence and treatment normally shown to an officially awarded colour, are strictly speaking parade flags and not colours.
The first type of colour is generally (but not invariably) based on the design of the national flag, and in a few cases (such as in the British and Canadian regiments of foot guards) it is the regimental colour that derives from the design of the national flag.

When the flag red is used to reproduce screens, it is advisable to take PMS485 as this one maintains the integrity of the orange colour in the flag.

The use of flags, or Colours, in the Canadian Army today is purely ceremonial, however their importance to the morale and espirit de corps of individual Regiments of Infantry cannot be underestimated.
Each colour was to be decorated with Roman numerals in gold, either painted or embroidered, indicating the Rank of the Regiment, within a wreath of Roses and Thistles on the same stalk (representing the Union of Scotland and England) on a scarlet field.
In 1917 the battalion was authorized to have a "battle flag", in red with a white circle bearing the distinguishing patches as worn on the uniform sleeves upon it.

The UK flag consists of three elements: the cross of St. George (red on white) for England, the cross of St. Andrew (white diagonal on blue) for Scotland, and the so-called cross of St. Patrick (red diagonal on white) for Ireland.
