In 2003/03 and 2003/04 he was awarded the Coaching Excellence Award as the top men's college coach in B.C. In 2003/04 he also won a gold medal at club provincials as head coach of the Fraser Valley Juvenile Boys team that also placed fourth at the U18 national championships.

Teachers College pioneered the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), offering its first methods course in 1916 and becoming the first institution in the United States to grant a Master of Arts (MA) degree in TESOL.
