In the county, the population is spread out with 27.30% under the age of 18, 7.00% from 18 to 24, 28.10% from 25 to 44, 26.00% from 45 to 64, and 11.60% who are 65 years of age or older.
Columbia County, was created in 1854 from the northern half of Washington County.
