The festival was participated in by the provinces of Sultan Kudarat, Cotabato, Sarangani, and South Cotabato and the cities of Kidapawan, Koronadal and General Santos.
Sultan Kudarat, which is famous for its hot and cold spring in the town of Columbio presented "Abyan ni Teng Cultural Dance Group" which like the other cultural dance groups from Region 12 earned the applause and appreciation of those who came to the festival.
Wittingly or unwittingly, Kuyog festival gave the officials of Sultan Kudarat led by Gov. Pax Mangudadatu and his son, Rep. Suharto Teng Mangudadatu of the lone district of the province, the green light for the full-blast development of its tourism industry.

COLUMBIO, Sultan Kudarat -- Four thousand three hundred eighty elementary pupils and high school students of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat will benefit from the Expanded Education Program of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Columbio and the Sagittarius Mines, Inc. this school year.
The LGU Columbio, together with the Department of Education -- Columbio District, and the Sagittarius Mines, Inc. recently entered into an agreement on Expanded Education Program for the present school year, 2006-2007 on 15 June 2006.
The Local Government of Columbio hailed the said program, which was initiated by Sagittarius Mines, Inc., a company holding a copper and gold exploration at the tri-boundaries of Columbio in Sultan Kudarat, Tampakan in South Cotabato, and Kiblawan in Davao del Sur.

Among the ceasefire violations, according to the Mindanao Grassroots Ceasefire Assessment and Monitoring mission, are unjustified massing of troops, artillery shellings, air attacks and armed skirmishes between the AFP and the MILF.
The violations have resulted in massive evacuation and displacement of communities in the provinces of Lanao, Maguindanao, Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat, and in other human rights violations such as deaths and injuries to civilian non-combatants, burnt or destroyed houses and stolen livestock.
The mission noted that the 18 month-old ceasefire "is in a fragile state", especially because of the violations in the last quarter of the year 2002 (the major military operations in Lanao) and in early January of this year (the Columbio, Sultan Kudarat clashes).
