It's fascinating to see Columbo in the pilot episode where all the familiar features - the filthy mac, the cigar, the one more question - are present and to see some other episodes that haven't been repeated infinite times on t.v.
Columbo is one of those TV-series that entered the hall of fame of cult, and probably what Peter Falk is universally associated to.
