The story of Kansas City Council 527 of the Knights of Columbus actually begins May 27, 1900, when Kansas Citians Dr. Bernard H. Zwart and John H. Walsh, members of St. Louis Council 453, organized a meeting at the old Hotel Baltimore at 11th Street and Baltimore downtown.
Kansas City Council 527 owned its council hall at 3200 Main from 1909 until 1941, when it lent the hall, first to the USO and after World War II to the Diocese of Kansas City to use as offices for social service activities.
The current Kansas City Council 527 was created in March of 1993 by the merger of Council 527 with Father Manion Council 1698 and John F. Kennedy Council 5554.
