Colusa County is a county located in the Central Valley of the U.S. state of California, northwest of state capital Sacramento.
Colusa County was one of the first counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood.
In the county the population was spread out with 31.60% under the age of 18, 10.30% from 18 to 24, 26.90% from 25 to 44, 19.80% from 45 to 64, and 11.40% who were 65 years of age or older.

County caseworkers acknowledge that moving individuals from welfare to work is ideal, yet they are unsure of how Colusa County will achieve this given the county’s lack of resources, such as childcare centers and public transportation.
Welfare rolls in the county are decreasing, and from 1996 to 1998, the county welfare department reported a 30 percent decline in its caseload.

GEORGE B. This gentleman is a Missourian by birth, born in the town of Frankfort, Pike County, on November 11, 1847.
Edwin Augustus Harrington, of Colusa, was born in Burlington, Vermont, January 31, 1834.
He worked as a laborer and as a farm hand on the ranches in Placer and Yolo Counties, made himself conversant with the various systems of agriculture and methods of stock-raising, and at the end of nine years of unremitting toil, he came to Colusa County, bringing with him his humble but hard-earned accumulations.

Arriving in the Sacramento Valley in 1867, he wintered in Cache Creek, Yolo County, and in the spring of 1868 he came on through Colusa County, and continued on east to the White Pine mining region, by way of Honey Lake and Truckee.
He was an early advocate of railroads in the county and is a large stockholder in the Colusa and Lake Road.
Brasfield was appointed County Surveyor for an unexpired term, and in 1884, 1886 and 1888 was re-elected to that office.
