Sarah Colvin was born ca 1816 in Lincoln Co., KY. She 1st married Jacob Plunkett Bruner Sr., 11-18-1834 in Boone Co., MO. Jacob was born 5-4-1798 in Winchester, Clark Co., KY, and died 4-27-1850 in Brunswick, Chariton Co., MO. He was the son of John S. Bruner and Rebecca Crosthwaite.
Elizabeth Colvin was born ca 1812 in Culpeper Co., VA. She married Drury Sanders on 5-6-1834 in Boone Co., MO. Elizabeth and family appear in the 1850 census of Boone Co., MO. They are in HH 1499.

Colvin, living eight miles southwest of Oberlin (on the South Fork of the Sappa) was away from his dwelling some few rods, when he was suddenly surprised by an advance party of the raiding Indians, who drove him to his house.
Colvin performed the duties of Superintendent of Public Instruction in 1879, organizing school district No. 1, six miles square, with Oberlin in the centre, on August 23.
Arrangements were made for holding an election for the purpose of choosing county and township officers, and voting on the permanent location of the county seat on the 3d day of February, 1880.

Hofsommer said Colvin residents are concerned that the new district would force them to call long distance and drive as far as 75 miles to Ely to contact or meet with their county commissioner.
