		The anonymous "Pilgrim of Bordeaux" has left an itinerary of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 333.
		Pilgrims contributed an important element to long-distance trade before the modern era, and brought prosperity to successful pilgrimage sites, an economic phenomenon unequalled until the tourist trade of the 20th century.
		Encouraging pilgrims was a motivation for assembling (and sometimes fabricating) relics and for writing hagiographies of local saints, filled with inspiring accounts of miracle cures.

		Come on Pilgrim was the Pixies' first release, issued in October 1987.
		The EP's title comes from the "Levitate Me" lyric: "Levitate me / Come on, pilgrim, you know he loves you / Levitate me".

		The Purple Tape is the name given by fans to the Pixies' original 17-track demo tape, recorded at Fort Apache in March 1987 by Gary Smith, due, quite simply, to its mostly purple appearance.
		Eight of the tracks were released in 1987 as the band's debut, Come on Pilgrim and the remaining nine were released under the title Pixies in 2002 by Sonic Unyon records.

	Pixies: Fyfeopedia Music Reviews
		The subject matter of Come on Pilgrim is far less esoteric than on later releases; it does begin with his tribute to reindeer ('Caribou'), but marginal topics like incest and STDs are more familiar to rock and roll than Francis' later interests.
		Come on Pilgrim is consistently engrossing, but its short length counts against it, and Francis' vocals and Santiago's guitar are more controlled and less interesting than on later releases.
		Surfer Rosa is coupled with Come on Pilgrim on CD, and it would probably be fair to up the rating half a star for the complete package since the total number of fantastic songs increases, and both releases are more noteworthy for their handful of amazing songs rather than sustained brilliance.

		Yeah, Come On Pilgrim is basically just a brief 20 minute starting point for more triumphant successes (which is why it doesn't get a higher rating), but for a 'career jumpstart' EP, it's still damn consistent and interesting on its' own.
		Coming in a close second to that, though, is "Motorway To Roswell", maybe the best 'Pixies epic' you can find, at an incredibly lengthy 4:43 - that odd vocal approach is unusually affecting as the 'last night, he could not make it...' lines are sung, the 'he started heading for the...
		This release really belongs right alongside Come On Pilgrim in the Pixies' discography because, well, a part of it actually is Come On Pilgrim, half of the same demo tape that first led the Pixies on the road to greatness.

		Come On Pilgrim starts out with a nice few notes, and then fades into Black Francis singing along with the guitar playing.
		Come On Pilgrim is the perfect example of the phrase "Short and sweet." It only has eight songs, but all of them are spectacular.

		You'd expect the sound to be slightly richer than 'Come On Pilgrim' and it is, although the music doesn't show any progression at all from 'Come On Pilgrim' for the most part although a couple of the songs here do further propel the group forwards.
		Come on Pilgrim has its fine points, but, listening to Cactus, and such tracks as Where is My Mind, and River Euphrates, I have to say that Surfer Rosa is SO much better than Come on Pilgrim!

		Record label 4AD signed the band after hearing the demo, and released eight of the songs as Come On Pilgrim.

The latter, along with "Isla de Encanta" show the Spanish influence that would be so prominent in much of Black Francis' lyrics on future albums (he spent six months as a foreign-exchange student in Puerto Rico).
