 Weight by Henry Rollins CD
Now it seems, he's finally made an album that's gonna provoke just as much debate..." Musician (5/94, p.67) - "...Henry Rollins is such a prolific producer of quality dissatisfaction, whether in the form of music, literature, or spoken-word performance, that it's easy to lose track of the distinct merits of each.
Author, poet, comedian, philosopher, Henry Rollins is determined to turn his glaring searchlight of insight and intelligence on all the discrepancies, frailties, deceits and absurdities he observes in the world, saving some of his most telling blows for the tattooed, muscular guy with the mic.
But then, Henry Rollins is man enough to bear the WEIGHT, and this is an artful, angry, energetic tour de farce by a powerful charismatic figure who translates all of those familiar themes of the outcast and the mutant into tomes of transcendence and acceptance and maturation...and rage.

No Cure for Cancer captured Denis Leary the phenomenon but Lock 'N Load captures Denis Leary the comedian and it's a record that captures him at his best.
Few comedians in the '90s have been as political or accurate as Leary -- in fact, his set pieces often seem more like bitterly funny social comedy than routines.
Throughout Lock 'N Load, he takes on targets, ranging from the Catholic Church and politicians to microbrews and Hanson, and mercilessly tears them down with his sharp, profane wit.

Although it was dismissed by critics as a secondhand imitation of leading rappers Nas and Jay-Z, as well as Eminem himself who later said, "I was always the smartass comedian, that's why Infinite wasn't a good album," it remains a charmingly fresh and breathtakingly skillful hip-hop album.
Not only is Infinite Eminem's first full-length album, it is also one of the rarest gems in hip-hop history.
Certainly, almost all its eleven tracks are extraordinary; the opening title track swirls and cries with swimming jazz samples and features the kind of vintage Motown beats which make this album a surprisingly nostalgic and almost happy trip.
