Establishing a series of comic books and merchandise helped solidify their video game deal with Acclaim, though the publisher unfortunately filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy just two weeks before the title's scheduled release.
But in recent years, with comic characters licensed into other media (and, indeed, characters from other media feeding back into comics), it's increasingly relevant for the video game industry.

 SSS COMICS 2004 San Diego Comic Con International Report
Comic Con International (or just "San Diego") is by far the largest comic book convention in North America and even though I have been here before I was still taken back by how much bigger the show was compared to last year!
I love the city of San Diego and Comic Con is my favourite stop that I make yearly, I don't have many complaints but I do have some concerns.
Thursday was the first full day of the con and after a good nights rest I was ready for anything.....well almost anything.

is billed as the "largest convention devoted to the popular arts" in the United States, and these arts include comics, science fiction, and animation--both foreign and domestic.
Dark Horse Comics, one of the leading publishers of translated manga in the U.S., was also there, but they did not seem to be promoting any of their manga titles.
OVA's to cross-promote the comic and CPM's video, but that was all I was able to find that gave any hint that Dark Horse even published manga.

I've noticed that the con is less of a Comic Convention as it is a Multimedia Convention.
Cool Stuff at the Con : There were a lot of cool booths and displays and whatnot, but one of the biggest and coolest IMHO was the one for "The Time Machine", a remake of the classic film of the 60's(?).
But anyway, the con this year r00ld, meeting all the Keenspotters and other cartoonists r00ld, and next year is gonna r00l even more, since we plan on having a bigger and better-placed booth.

Every year, at the Comic-Con International, I get to moderate a load of panels that are fun and/or educational, and everyone who shows up for them has a very good time, myself included.
The only problem is all the folks who go to the con and get so swept up in the main exhibit hall that they forget about the programming upstairs and later regret it.
