George Evans, an artist from Harwood, Pennsylvania, debuted in the illustration field, and attended the Scranton Art School afterwards.
When Fawcett folded, he was brought over to EC Comics by Al Williamson, where he was hired immediately in 1953.

Yeah, it does kind of suck that when we speak of comic book artists it is pretty much only artists from the big two.
Sometimes when an artist is working with dead lines they aren't given time to experiment and thats not usually what fans and editors expect from them.
The only emotion that you were supposed to feel through the whole comic was "oh man, this is a huge deal", and it came off like that b/c of Alex Ross' iconic paintings that look like a mighty hero standing on top of a mountain.

The entire book consist of little tiny sketches he did while watching an exercise tape.
Also, if you're considering this for a younger artist, several of the sketches have annotation that they were drawn from a "stripper" tape and are somewhat provocative both in content and "clever quips" as commentary by the artist; inappropriate to my way of thinking.
