Faced with the prospect of an arranged marriage to a woman he has never met, Akeem pleads with his father, the King (James Earl Jones), to be allowed to go to the America to find a bride of his own choosing.
King Jaffe tells her that Akeem had just come to "sow his royal oats" and had a bride waiting back in Zamunda, which upsets her even further.

What he sees is Coming to America, which more than coincidentally resembles a treatment he wrote for an unproduced picture called "King For A Day." A historical lawsuit follows; Buchwald vs. Paramount even spawned a book so hefty that Eddie Murphy would need his entire entourage to lift it.
With the exception of the profanity and the occasional gag like a naked woman coming up for air from bathwater and announcing to Akeem, "The royal penis is clean," Coming to America is the definition of family entertainment.
The disc also includes a standard Dolby Surround track that I did not sample--since this 1988 film was originally accompanied by a 2-channel mix, I can't imagine a big discrepancy between the two audio options in any event.
