Automating commandline date and time uses   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-16)
The beauty of commandline utilities is that they are available to everyone by default for free, so to speak, and yet provide a fairly powerful scripting language to automate tasks.
There is, however, a feature in NT commandlines which makes it possibly even easier to access the date or time as a variable in scripts: Both date and time are available as dynamic environment variables without further ado.
That is the core of this demonstration of using the commandline to automate the use of system date and time, the rest is incidental, however interesting or boring it might be.

When you choose this option it opens a dialog allowing you to enter the commandline.
The dialog is pretty self explanitary, I would hope - simply enter the commandline you want, and press "run".

Poweroff.exe is an MSDOS program that is able to shutdown the power of the latest ATX powersupplies from the commandline using the APM functionalities supplied by the motherboard BIOS.
This is absolutely no problem, as long as you use Win95, but when you want to use DOS there is no simple way to turn the power back off.
You simple run the PowerOff.exe from the commandline (or batchfile), then the program sends a request to the BIOS to set the state of the system to off, and the computer goes to sleep.
