Commander Farsight (Warhammer 40,000) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Commander Farsight is a character from the fictional Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Farsight, also now as Shas'O Vior'la Shovah Kaius Mont'yr or O'Shovah, is a Tau Fire Caste commander from the Vior'la sept. He was highly respected as a commander during the aftermath of the Damocles Crusade led by the Imperium of Man, where he won fame fighting Orks.
Farsight is said to still be leading the Farsight enclave (a group of faithful Fire Warriors), though this would make him more than 300 years old, far longer than the average life expectancy of a Tau.

In a Farsight army a railgun on a hammerhead is a necessity but dont forget they can still use a solid shot if needed.
Since the Commander (or Ethereal) is an Independant Character (IC), if they are not in a unit, they may not be targeted if there is a friendly unit within 6" of them (unless they are the closest figure and within 12" of the enemy).
Since the Farsight army is a break-away bunch of outcasts, and there is all that mystery around why O'Shovah left the Tau cause, I thought giving these guys a slightly more sinister look wouldn't be too much against the general Tau fluff.

In the book "Kill Team" one Tau commanders remarks that a single hive city holds as many humans as there are Tau on one of their Septs.
Considering how hive cities number in the tens of thousands and each holds upwards of a billion tithe-able Imperial citizens/soldiers, the Tau would have trouble conquering the Imperium much less surviving the attacks of more brutal races, especially when they are forced to fight in close quarters where hand-to-hand combat may become a factor.
Also the Greater Good seems to be less than impervious to degradation as seen in the renegade commander Farsight, and so perhaps the Tau will have trouble with schisming in the future.
