Standard Galactic Alphabet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Standard Galactic Alphabet, also known as its TLA SGA, is the writing system used to depict Omnispeak, the alien language of choice in the galaxy in the Commander Keen fictional universe.
After that he added other signs saying "hi" and "this is neat" (near rayguns), and he ended up creating conversions for the other letters of the Latin alphabet in order for the signs to resemble writings in an alien language.
Also in Keen 3 a sign with the complete SGA can be found in the secret level, similar to the Rosetta Stone.

3D Realms Site: A Look Back at Commander Keen
Commander Keen was id Software's first big game, and along with the original Duke Nukem (released in 91), Apogee Software was recognized as the place to go to for hot, shareware games.
Keen (like every other Apogee title) was released under the (at the time) unheard of concept of giving away part of your game for free.

 Gamebits: Commander Keen
Commander Keen's various adventures against the Vorticons, Shikadi, Bloogs, and his rival Mortimer McMire were extremely popular, to the tune of 6 episodes and a couple of follow-ups (it became commercial software around 1991).
Commander Keen does offer some good challenges and teases your brain, but it's also a very frustrating game requiring pin-point jumping dexterity when you least expect it and the character is frequently difficult to control in a fashion for which the Game Boy Color's control scheme isn't really suited.
Fans of Commander Keen who are nostalgic for the young hero might find this game worth a peek just to see him in action again; however, I think the average Game Boy player won't find anything in Commander Keen for GBC worth raising a fuss over.

The graphics in Commander Keen are crisp and, while the animations of the various enemies are simple, there's enough of them to go around.
It's a lot of difficult action, and the younger gamer may become frustrated with some of the amazingly difficult action sequences, but for those who persevere there's a lot of fun to be had with this game.
Not a lot more can be said about Commander Keen's gameplay: it's precisely what you've come to expect from a platformer.
