Commander in Chief (television) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Commander in Chief is a television drama focusing on the presidential administration and family of Mackenzie Allen (portrayed by Geena Davis), the first female President of the United States, who ascends to the role after the previous chief executive, Teddy Bridges (played by Will Lyman), dies in office from a sudden ruptured cerebral aneurysm.
The universe of Commander in Chief shares a great deal of recent history with our own: in the first episode, Vice Presidents Al Gore and Dick Cheney are mentioned, suggesting that the show's universe diverges from our own at least sometime after 2001.
As on the political drama The West Wing, the world of Commander in Chief includes both real countries (such as Nigeria and Iraq), as well as fictitious ones (such as the South American country of San Pasquale).

Much domestic comedy is wrung from the emasculation of Mac's husband Rod Calloway (Kyle Secor), who served as her chief of staff in her Veep days but has now been demoted to "first lady" status (there's not even any discussion of how to adjust the nomenclature for a male occupant of the office).

 INFO WAR by William thomas
Having learned from another war the power of televised images of American corpses to turn American public opinion against administration policies, during the last Bush bombing of Iraq in 1991, truth became the first and last casualties of a “war” that was really a one-sided slaughter.
But while Arab, British and European news stations continue to highlight debate over the war’s illegality, U.S. “anchors” more mindful of their paychecks and perks than journalistic integrity are careful not to point out that American cluster bomb attacks on heavily populated cities absolutely violate internationally agreed rules for the conduct of war.
Ambushed by info, U.S. military commanders confident in their overwhelming firepower are increasingly expressing concern that the "velocity of information" is spinning out of their control.

John Kerry intensified his efforts to persuade Americans to change their commander in chief yesterday, saying he would move more swiftly on national security than President George Bush, and promising to lessen the burden on US forces in Iraq.
The theme of national security ran through Mr Kerry's appearances on the morning television shows yesterday as he worked hard to capitalise on his military credentials at last week's Democratic convention.
That was still too close to comfort for Mr Bush, who is going to use the days ahead to lay out his second term agenda before the Republican convention at the end of the month.
