American Comedy Awards - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The American Comedy Awards were a group of awards presented annually since 1987 to honor performances and performers in the field of comedy.
The last ACA ceremony was held in 2001 under the control of the cable network Comedy Central.
Since the ACA's demise, they have been replaced by the network's own awards, the Commie Awards.

 Documentary explores award shows
The Award Show Awards Show, which isn't an awards show but a documentary, wants you to know there are 565 show-biz awards competitions each year, of which 100 are televised.
But as Tatum O'Neal, the film's award-winning narrator, points out, "Conflicts are endless when awards shows outnumber the works of art they are trying to honor." Witness the juxtaposed clips of a program that wins both a Prism (for accurately portraying the dangers of drug abuse) and a Stony (for promoting the pot-smoking culture).
Not to be outdone, The Award Show Awards Show institutes its own mock prizes in such categories as Most Meaningless Awards Shows (a leading contender is the award show for infomercials) and Most Inexplicable Snubs: There was never an Emmy for Jackie Gleason, never so much as a Grammy nomination for the Who.

That's what gives the squads they attach to the durability which is required to be able to bring them up to a state from being T0 capper units, to one that enables them to be competitive in the roll of T1 combat units, alongside the other races T1 units.

 Runaway Daughter 1953
After that classic romantic comedy It Happened One Night swept the Academy Awards for 1934, a rash of imitators appeared in 1935.
One of the quirkier knock-offs was Red Salute, which subverted the usual conventions of the genre by making one of its principal characters a Communist student radical.
But audiences easily recognized it for the recycled 1935 product that it was; after all, in 1953, campus radicals wouldn't have been punched out as punishment; they would have been jailed or deported.

The Oscars are sort of tolerable, but only if watched with friends while drinking and mocking the frocks with the tellie on mute (because who wants to hear anyone thanking their agent/God/studio/husband/mother/children and blah, blah, blah).
The only awards ceremonies I've attended have been at science fiction conventions, most of which (but not the joyous Tiptree Award) have rivalled the Oscars for brain-numbing length.
Saturday's Aurealis Awards in Brisbane run by Fantastic Queensland (an organisation which fully lives up to its name) was nothing like that.

Awards Show Awarding Awards Shows Announced
The Fox television network announced yesterday its intention of creating a new awards show designed to honour outstanding achievements in the field of award shows, a spokesperson for the network said.
Besides an apparent desire to appeal to the "hip" crowd, the primary reason for the show's existence is to sort out the growing number of awards shows and appropriately gauge their quality, so that frightened and confused television viewers don't have to do it for themselves, said Strong after thinking about it for a bit.
As for the nominees, Strong said that the list hasn't been finalized yet, but that there were already some "strong contenders".
