  STRUCTURE OF AREA 26 COMMITTEE
Service shall be the Area 26 Committee's primary purpose and the Committee shall encourage all groups to participate in the business of the Committee and to support the Committee in its efforts to cooperate with the A.A. General Service Office and A.A. World Service.
The Area Assembly meeting is specifically charged with the duty of the election, in odd years, of one Area 26 delegate to the General Service Conference and to give the delegate financial support to assist him or her in the course of duties of the office.
The District Committee Member is elected by the G.S.R.'s in the district, and election may be prior to, or at, the Area Assembly meeting in October.

The Committee investigates the disproportionate number of illnesses and ailments in the Bayview Hunters Point community and seeks alternative locations for industrial plants such as sewer and power plants that historically have polluted the area.

The Capital Area Service Committee (C.A.S.C.) is the combined district meeting of Districts 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16 of the Area 27 (Louisiana) of Alcoholics Anonymous.
This committee is responsible for starting and carrying on meetings and for providing Big Books and other literature and information to correctional facilities, treatment facilities, and non-profit or state run institutions.
Seed money of $500 was given to the committee by CASC and as the result of the 1994 workshop, "AA's Golden Anniversary in Baton Rouge - 50 years of AA in the Metro Area," enough money was raised to plan for the first Red Stick Round-Up which was held in February of 1996.

Unfortunately, during the time between our discussions with the hotel and the time it took to get Area approval in October, the Ramada Northeast rented its ballroom out for every Sunday in 2007.
We will still meet at the Ramada Northeast for the Area Committee meeting and for the Saturday portion of the Assemblies.
The Archives and History Center is located at 8301 Parklane Road in Columbia and is less than 2 miles away from the Ramada Northeast at 7510 Two Notch Road.

A further 2,300 households receive a kerbside collection service for garden waste whereby residents either have garden waste collected alternately with residual waste, or residents can pay for their garden waste to be collected and maintain their weekly collection of residual waste.
The current adopted Minerals and Waste Local Plans run until 2006.  The Planning and Regulation Committee is responsible for determining planning applications for all minerals and waste developments and for the County Council’s own developments, such as libraries and schools.
It is intended that an Issues Report will be produced in Spring 2004 and the Area Committee will be an important consultee on this document.
