The Committee of Union and Progress (CUP) (Turkish: İttihad ve Terakki Cemiyeti) was a political organization, established by Bahaeddin Sakir initially among Young Turks in 1906, during the dissolution period of the Ottoman Empire.
Committee of Union and Progress was an umbrella name for different underground factions, which some of them were known generally as “Young Turks”.
Abdul Hamid II was quite successful in suppressing the CUP, and even approached to France and Germany in suppression of this political movement.

Progress Energy Florida formed its "root cause committee" to investigate what caused the accident that killed Bowers, who was injured Thursday night while opening a valve on a high-pressure pump on the Crystal River complex's Unit 2 coal plant.
Harris said the "root cause committee" is composed of about 20 members, who come and go depending on when their expertise is needed.
Leading the committee are Richard Mesker, manager of health and safety for Progress Energy Florida, and Tom Lawery, engineering manager for Progress Energy's Florida region, who is leading the technical aspects of the investigation.

WASHINGTON – Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, a prime architect of the Bush administration's Iraq policy, said yesterday the Pentagon had underestimated the violent tenacity of an insurgency that formed after Baghdad fell, and he acknowledged that the United States may be forced to keep significant numbers of soldiers in Iraq for years to come.
Wolfowitz's assessment was challenged by Rep. Ike Skelton of Missouri, the committee's ranking Democrat, who read aloud the administration's goals for Iraq as stated last July, and said they still had not been met.
Committee members pressed Wolfowitz about what has been viewed as a mismatch between individual battlefield successes and a lack of political progress.
