Commodore had to be rescued once again by an infusion of cash from Gould, which Tramiel used beginning in 1976 to purchase several second-source chip suppliers, including MOS Technology, Inc., in order to guarantee supply.
Commodore UK was the only subsidiary to survive the bankruptcy and even placed a bid to buy out the rest of the operation, or at least the former parent company.

Datassette - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Commodore 1530* (C2N) Datassette (a portmanteau of data + cassette), was Commodore's dedicated computer tape recorder.
In Europe, the Datassette was the medium of choice for several years after its launch, although floppy disk drives were generally available.
The Datassette was a very slow and fairly unreliable medium (the latter caused by the sensitivity of the encoded analog signal to disturbances by magnetic fields and tape failure).

Flag Officers of the U.S. Navy
Commodore's broad pennants were blue, red, or white, depending on seniority, with stars equal to the number of states in the Union.
The commodore's distinguishing mark came to be a "broad pennant"(or, as it was spelled until the mid-nineteenth century, "pendant") a pennant that was wider and shorter than the narrow pennant (commission pennant), the distinctive mark of a warship that is not commanded by a flag officer.
In 1857, the title of commodore was superseded by that of "flag officer" and the broad pennant by the plain rectangular flag officer's flag.

Commodore owners were thrilled that they could have a computer which could perform nearly like the Macintosh-- for just a small percentage of the price of a Macintosh-- while still having color graphics and sound which surpassed the capabilities of the Macintosh.
Commodore even developed an incredible interactive stand-alone CD unit (based on the Amiga technology) called the CDTV which (along with Philips CDI) were the predecessors to many of the CD-based interactive game systems which followed.

Since the objective is to have an orderly Sailpast and to allow the Commodore a chance to salute each boat and the members aboard, the practice is to let the faster boats move ahead, out of the way, rather than coming up fast from behind.
This is followed at 5pm by the Commodore’s Punch Bowl on the front lawn of the club (or inside the main floor lobby if weather is inclement.) Basically this is a cocktail party and another opportunity to raise a glass to the Commodore and/or the new sailing season.

Commodore had to call it a day during the 90's, when the company could no longer compete with the oncoming consoles from Sega and Nintendo and especially with the newer PC generations.
