The Commodore 64 (C64, CBM 64/CBM64, C= 64), also sometimes nicknamed "the breadbin" due to its shape, is a home computer with 64 kilobytes of RAM that was popular in the 1980s.

For all other than die-hard enthusiasts, however, the C64 lost its top position among demo coders when the 16-bit Atari ST and Commodore Amiga were released in the mid-80s.

My life with the Commodore 64
A Commodore 64, for those that doesn't know so already, is the single most sold home-computer ever.
The reason for the success of the 64 back in the 80's, was that there were lots of games produced for the 64, and lots of people that cracked (removed the copy-protection from) the games and spread them to others without charging anything.
So, while game-console owners had to pay $30 for each game they bought, a 64 owner bought a cassette (if he was poor), or a couple of diskettes (if he was lucky enough to own a disk-drive), and got 30-40 games from his buddies instead...

The Commodore 64 had only 64kB of memory, so there would not be room for any large text files in memory at the same time as the demo itself.
All these demos were made with a rom monitor called "Dismon", a 4kB disassembler that I relocated to different memory location depending on where there was room for it.
This is due to that in many demos where I synced events in the demo with the music, I used commands that these newer PC module players erroneously interpret as "newer-version-trackers commands".
