		Unlike Big Rig, Common Rider was going to be a real band, which would do more than just release an EP and disappear.
		Emphatically ending any debates of who put the ska into Operation Ivy's sound, Common Rider are closer in sound to the Wailers or the Skatalites than Minor Threat or Sham 69.
		The hardest thing about listening to Common Rider is that, because of their roots, it is too easy to hear what they aren't, as opposed to what they are.

		Common Rider are destined to be pigeonholed as Jesse Michaels’ first significant band since the dissolution of Operation Ivy, the seminal Berkeley Ska/punk aggregation that featured Michaels on vox, as well as future Rancid hot-shots Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman.
		In his Op Ivy role, Michaels raspy delivery was the clarion call for a new-breed of socially and politically-aware hardcore, one that would eventually infiltrate the mainstream and birth a highly lucrative subculture.

		I figured I'd just address the three burning questions on everybody's mind about Common Rider.
		He started Common Rider with Dan Lumley and Mass Giorgini from Squirtgun and Screeching Weasel as an outlet for all the songs that had built up in him over the years.
		Whereas Op Ivy's appropriately titled Energy consists of short bursts of frantic ideas, Common Rider's songs are a more regular length and are fully developed.
