  Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) - Left Wing Extremism, India, South Asia Terrorism Portal
The Maoist Communist Centre of India (MCC) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) People's War (also known as the People's War Group or PWG) merged to form a new entity, the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) on September 21, 2004, somewhere in the projected 'liberated zone'.
According to a CPI-Maoist press release issued by Muppala Lakshman Rao alias Ganapathi, the 'General Secretary' of the Party, the unity was aimed at furthering the cause of "revolution" in India.
The ideological basis of the Party is Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.

After a Maoist shot and killed one of the demonstrators, violent protests erupted with clashes between police and demonstrators and attacks on government facilities in at least 10 districts, resulting in the death of over 30 people.
Since the political parties and Maoists brokered a comprehensive peace agreement in November 2006, the tourism industry hoped that guest arrivals in Nepal would bounce quickly back to 1999 levels and higher.

A police party reached Varavara Rao's house soon after midnight and he was taken into custody at 3.30 am, after a three-hour long drama at his flat in a residential complex.
Though the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) or people's war group and six other frontal organizations were outlawed earlier also, Varavara Rao, a founder member of Virasam, remained overground.

And the first news he heard was the killing of seven villagers by the Maoists in Karyamarke and Mundergaon village under Bhairamgarh police station in Dantewada district, about 500 kms from here.
The Maoists abducted the villagers on Tuesday night from their villages, who were actively participating in the on-going public awareness campaign against the rebels.

In a letter written by the five detainees to MASUM, they complain that the practice against detainees charged under alleged activity with the Communist Party of India (Maoist) is to re-arrest anyone who is released with an arrest memo reading "shown arrest", "re-arrest", or "arrested in case connection”.
The domestic law in India, The Criminal Procedure Code mandates the arresting officer to record the reason for arrest showing under what charges the person is arrested.
The detainees also allege that re-arrests are not limited to their cases but also apply to many others who are kept at Krishnanagar jail owing to their allegiance to the Maoist faction of the Communist Party of India.

Founding Philosophy: The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was formed in September 2004 with the merger of the Maoist Communist Center (MCC) and People's War Group (PWG), the two main left-wing extremist groups in India.
