Ask Us A Question - The Ontario Liberal Party is a centrist provincial political party in the province of Ontario, ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The party is ideologically aligned with the Liberal Party of Canada but the two parties are organizationally independent and have separate, though overlapping, memberships.
The Liberal Party of Ontario is descended from the Reform Party of Robert Baldwin and William Lyon Mackenzie, who argued for responsible government in the 1830s and 1840s against the conservative patrician rule of the Family Compact.
The party was so disorganized that it was led for seven years (and through two provincial elections) by an interim leader, W.E.N. Sinclair, as there was not enough money or a sufficient level of organization, and too many divisions within the party to hold a leadership convention.

2007 Ontario Election - Campaigns Wikia - A Wikia wiki
Ontario's latitude and climate are such that, during the late fall, winter and early spring months, the province has relatively short periods of daylight: solar power generation would fail when demand is highest, due to darkness.
Given the crisis facing Ontario, the current government is trying both approaches to some extent and, indeed, most parties are proposing both approaches to one extent or another (Liberal, NDP and Green parties, in that order, want an increasing focus on rationing, rather than on the production of more electricity).
For example, most of Ontario's parties want the government of Ontario to maintain controls on the prices of electricity, whereas Ontario's Freedom Party and Green Party take the view that, by removing price controls, wasteful consumption will be discouraged[5].

Freedom Party would eliminate government price controls on electricity: consumers could instead cap their own electricity price by entering into a contract with an electricity retailer (electricity retailers buy electricity at a price that is sometimes low and sometimes high, but sell the electricity to consumers for a single, capped price per kWh).
Green Party would place "the responsibility of pick-up, recycling, and reuse of all products and packaging material" on manufacturers: "For example included in the cost of the purchase of a car would be a levy that would be used to dismantle, recycle and reuse the remains of the car".
A Liberal Party government would also create programs intended to encourage educators in better government schools to improve education in government schools that are not educating children quite as well.
