For approximately the first half of the 20th century, it was the largest and most widely influential communist party in the country, particularly in the labor movement of the 1920s through the 1940s.
In the late 1980s the party became estranged from the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev and criticized his policy of perestroika, leading to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union cutting off its support of the CPUSA in 1989.
Party members also rallied to the defense of the Spanish Republic during this period after a fascist military uprising moved to overthrow it, resulting in the Spanish Civil War (1936 to 1939).

We should take a practical hint from the Communist Party of the USA on this one they opposed supporting Nader, in the presidential elections, as being a distraction away from the real goal of preventing the unrestrained right wing from taking control of the White House.
In the USA it was easy to let the heart, which said Nader, rule the head which said Gore; the failure by the rest of the left to be clear on this resulted in the election of bomb 'em Bush.
However the Communist Party's limited electoral ventures have made gains that cannot be quantified financially, in terms of a balance sheet they show a financial loss, but they reach many tens of thousands of people and not only offer hope but a programme to raise themselves up.

Communist or not (and as ridiculous as they definitely are), the Communist USA Party is entitled to also participate in the very political system they loathe and hope to destroy.
I like the party more than other communist parties because of their views on how to take over the country, which is peacefully instead of violently.
This party views capitalism as bad but a lot of the things that they claim makes capitalism bad are probably caused by the socialism in our economy which makes it harder for new companies to compete against large corporations while also causing public schools and similar things to be inefficient.

In this article, I have drawn attention to the hate which sprouts forth from the mouths of communists in the USA as they try to "liberate" the "oppressed" in the USA and as they try to bedevil US officials who were logically using profiling to try to make air travel safer for innocent people.

Police arrested close to 30 members of the Communist Party USA/Provisional (CPUSA/P), commonly referred to as the Provisional Party of Communists, which was formerly led by the now-deceased Eugenio Parente-Ramos.
The group, an offshoot of the Progressive Labor Party, (which in turn is split off from the Communist Party USA), seems to follow Communist ideology closely, structuring the hierarchy of their own group after the former Soviet Union's Politburo.
Parente's National Federation of Labor (Natlfed) and Newman's IWP had a "continuing collaboration." Newman is known for his leadership, along with Lenora Fulani, of the cult-like New Alliance Party.
