Both prefectures, Chalkidiki (1,983,000 all night services) and Pieria (575,000 all night services) are considered the most touristic regions of N. Greece.
In Chalkidiki, 84 touristic agents from 22 municipalities were interviewed and in Pieria 97 touristic agents from 14 municipalities (Table 1).
It is characteristic in both Chalkidiki and Pieria, the fact that hotel and campsite owners cooperated in many ways with the implementing company for the best possible result, which was obtained in the majority of cases.

The island is the center of attention for the Greek Ornithological Company, which has changed the old primary School into the first in Greece Ornithological Station, aiming at the study of roughly 250 species of birds that have been recorded in the Antikythera and the around islands.
Concretely, 542.231 residents live in the region, while it is constituted globally by 16 Municipalities and 2 Communities.
It is worths the note that the permanent population of Antikythera cannot exceed the 45 individuals at the period of winter, however on summertime and mainly at the feast day of Patron Saint Myron (16and17 August) the population can exceed also the 1000 individuals.

A number of Greek municipalities threatened and some carried out evictions of nomadic Roma communities.
On May 19, 1999, Charalambos Triantafyllidis, editor and publisher of the Florina-based Enimerosi, was convicted by a court in Kozani and given a five-month suspended prison sentence and fine of U.S. $1,635 for insulting Florina's then prefect-elect in November 1998.
Journalists continued to receive prison sentences for public criticism of government authorities under Greece's draconian libel laws.
