I'm pretty sure this was not shown as episode 10 in the UK (just as I think 'the message' was shown earlier in the series than your episode guide shows).
This episode contains the comment by Nadie that Inara's departure from Sihnon, the companion guildworld, was a shock to everyone.
Slight Correction to a note above: this episode features the first *functional* laser pistol seen in Firefly; We had previously seen the (inoperative) Lassiter in "Trash".
