The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle is an order of chivalry associated with Scotland.
Its equivalent in England, The Most Noble Order of the Garter, is the oldest documented order of chivalry in the United Kingdom, dating to the middle fourteenth century.
The badge of the Order is depicted suspended from the collar.

MEDIA RELEASE - THE PRINCE OF Most reporting on the announcement by the Prime Minister that The Prince of Wales will visit Australia from the 28 February to the 5 March 2005 give emphasis to the fact that His Royal Highness has not been here since 1994.
What is not said is that according to constitutional convention, neither The Prince of Wales nor Her Majesty The Queen can visit Australia unless invited to do so by the Government; which in itself is testimony that we are a totally independent and sovereign nation subject only to the will of the Australian people.
