It is important for the engine to run smoothly at part-throttle - that is, the transition from off-throttle to on-throttle should be as smooth as possible, and acceleration should increase linearly with throttle input.
Engine configuration also has an effect on aerodynamics, as a wider motor means a larger frontal area and therefore increased drag at high speeds.
This may change in a few years, when the four- and five-cylinder engines are closer to their maximum output, and tire technology has advanced to the point that another 20 or so horsepower would actually be useable.

Other later engines of other types commonly used the cylinder block to contain the bearings, thus having all of the removable cylinders, heads and bearings attached to one unit.
The section of the Ingersoll-Rand engine shown at left is simply referred to as the "housing." It is the main strength member of the bottom of the engine.
The Ingersoll-Rand engine, then, has two main strength members (the heads and the housing) unlike the vast majority of others in which either the base or the cylinder block is considered the main strength member.

Layout engine   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
A layout engine, or rendering engine, is a software that takes web content (such as HTML, XML, image files, etc) and formatting information (such as CSS, XSL, etc) and displays the formatted content on the screen.
A layout engine is typically used for web browsers, email clients, or other applications that require the displaying (and editing) of web contents.
The term "layout engine" only reached popular usage when the Mozilla project designed its web browser's layout engine (Gecko) as a component that was separable from the browser.

HTML - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
As such, many consider XHTML to be the "current version" of HTML, but it is a separate, parallel standard; the W3C continues to recommend the use of either XHTML 1.1, XHTML 1.0, or HTML 4.01 for web publishing.
Some graphical e-mail clients allow the use of a subset of HTML (often ill-defined) as a pure display language.
Many of these clients include a GUI HTML editor for composing emails and a rendering engine for displaying them once received.

HTML 2.0, published November 1995 as IETF RFC 1866, supplemented by RFC 1867 (form-based file upload) that same month, RFC 1942 (tables) in May 1996, RFC 1980 (client-side image maps) in August 1996, and RFC 2070 (internationalization) in January 1997; ultimately all were declared obsolete/historic by RFC 2854 in June 2000.
Most graphical e-mail clients allow the use of a subset of HTML (often ill-defined) to provide formatting and semantic markup capabilities not available with plain text, like emphasized text, block quotations for replies, and diagrams or mathematical formulas that couldn't easily be described otherwise.
Use of HTML in e-mail is controversial due to compatibility issues, because it can be used in phishing/privacy attacks, and because the message size is larger than plain text.

The result layouts, their associated search domain, and the search terms were counterbalanced by means of a Latin square design.
The web layouts were saved on a local server, which produced almost instant access to the search pages in all conditions.
This outcome may be due to the fact that most search engines default the number of search results to ten per page and, thus, ten results would appear more professional looking.

Why use CSS-based layout?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
A strength of table-based layouts is that you may have a more solid guarantee that your layout will hold together in a wide variety of browsers.
CSS-based layouts allow for semantic markup, which is beneficial for assistive technologies, search engines, and enhances forward-compatibility.
Drawbacks of CSS-based layouts are that there are numerous cross-platform/cross-browser differences in how CSS is applied to pages.

Python also provides closures, and (more recently) the expected functions such as map, reduce, etc. In addition, programs written in Python can create new definitions of functions, classes, or instances on the fly by passing to the interpreter a string which is compiled into the environment, so self-modifying code is easy to write.
