At Compass, however, Brown and West run the company and are involved in every aspect of its management--even when they go out on tour to perform as members of the Alison Brown Quartet.

The Dale Ann Bradley Band has signed with Nashville-based Compass Records, a well respected independent label owned by progressive banjo player Alison Brown.
With over 200 titles in release, Compass has been more focused on folk, celtic, and new acoustic music than bluegrass in their ten years in business, though the addition of Dale Ann to their artist roster goes a long way towards changing that perception.
Bradley, who has recorded previously for Pinecastle, Dobbie Shea, and Mountain Home, will start work on her Compass debut later this year, with no solid plans for a release date announced at this time.

But, to Compass Records’ credit, Rusby and her clan, including her husband and producer John McCusker and her brother and sound engineer Joe, are allowed to manage their own way.
The focus here is on Rusby’s beautiful voice and her ever-maturing ability to illuminate and compose tragic tales, serving as a voice for the forlorn.
