Organized workers of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) are urging the public to rally against House Bill 6126, which aims to create the Cebu Water Resources Management Authority (CWRMA).
The bill defines Central Cebu as the cities of Cebu, Talisay, Toledo, Danao, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, and the towns of Conso-lacion, Liloan, Compostela, Cordova, Minglanilla, Naga, Asturias, Balamban and Pinamungajan.
The Compostela Municipal Council also passed Resolution 175, approved by Mayor James Cabatingan, stating that if House Bill 6126 is passed, this will only create “chaos and interminable court battles” between local government units (LGUs) and the water authority.
