The Bournemouth Questionnaire: A Short-form Comprehensive Outcome Measure. II. Psychometric Properties in Neck Pain ...
Mindful of the similarities between back and neck pain, and the need for a comprehensive yet short outcome measure for use in neck pain patients based on the biopsychosocial model, this study was formulated to modify the back BQ and then test its psychometric properties in patients with nonspecific neck pain.
It is important to remember that an outcome measure validated in one patient group is not necessarily valid in another in which the patient characteristics, particularly levels of disability and chronicity of the complaint, may be different.
As a result of a lack of outcome measures specifically designed and developed for use in neck patients, and in particular ones based on neck pain as an illness, we have developed a short-form, comprehensive neck outcome measure.

Outcome Pathway Analysis is performed for each of the outcomes of interest to the outcome-contributor.
The outcome engineer's challenge is to work with the outcome-contributor to design an accountability system that fits the context of the program, a system that allows defensible (though not necessarily exact) attributions to be drawn about contributions towards outcomes, especially under circumstances that do not allow for experimentation or sound quasi-experimentation.
Outcome engineering is a long-needed resource for outcome-contributors, particularly for those engaged in complex, multi-strategy work with individuals and their environments.

Efficacy of the intervention will be scrutinised by means of a prospective cluster-randomised study tapping into comprehensive outcome data at three measurement points (admission, discharge, and six-month follow-up).
In addition to the scientific benefit, and provided the intervention proves feasible, efficacious, and cost-effective, results will be put to use in order to disseminate continuous monitoring and management of outcome to other providers of psychiatric care.

Because of the variation in the treatment procedures used in the back schools and the methods used to assess outcomes, Levine's F test for homogeneity of variance was conducted for each stratification variable in each of the category specific analyses.
The tests for heterogeneity of effect size variance were significant for at least one outcome measure for the comprehensive vs primary back school category and for the Scandinavian vs "other" category suggesting that the d-indexes came from different populations of patients with low back pain.
