Computer role-playing game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Computer role-playing games (CRPGs), often shortened to RPGs, are a type of computer and video games that use settings and game mechanics found in traditional role-playing games.
In many games, players are allowed to name and create the concept of their characters, as opposed to playing the role of a pre-defined protagonist (as per many cRPG games).
Many gamers feel that it is inaccurate to use the term "role-playing game" to describe games in which the characterization of the game characters is determined by the game designer rather than the players' portrayal of their roles.

Fallout (computer game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The game is sometimes considered to be an unofficial sequel to Wasteland, but it could not use that title as Electronic Arts held the rights to it, and, except for minor references, the games are set in separate universes.
The protagonist of Fallout is an inhabitant of one of the government-contracted fallout shelters known as Vaults.
This is a reference to the classic computer game, Wasteland, on which the Fallout series itself is loosely based.

Roleplaying game - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki
A roleplaying game (RPG) is a type of game where players assume the roles of fictional characters via role-playing.
The term roleplaying game is also used for certain video games where the player takes on the role of a character in an imaginary world, and makes choices which advance a story.
While many Star Wars video and computer games have storylines and elements of roleplaying, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords are the only single-player computer roleplaying games set in the Star Wars galaxy.

Part of their procedure was to require an application by each prospective member which was considered and judged for entry.

The Temple of Elemental Evil CRPG Review -- September 25, 2003 :: d20 Magazine Rack :: Are You Game Enough?
The game is true to the original module — so much so that if you own the original, you could use it as a strategy guide — though the developers have added some expanded areas for adventure like the battlefield at Emridy Meadows, and added some roleplaying-based sub-quests.
Total game length is promised at 30-40 hours, though this varies depending upon side-quests and approach to the game.
The game is no cakewalk — but dedicated gamers will find that their knowledge of the rules system is a tremendous asset that will reward them while playing the game.

Lora's CRPG Reviews: Fun Computer Role-Playing Games for Busy People
Morrowind starts slow, with a long, dull, aimless-feeling early game in which delivering a letter seems to be the highlight of your character's life.
Unfortunately the game is not very interactive and has little customizability; the NPCs are two-dimensional and annoying, and the gameplay is buggy and wretchedly slow.
Wizardry Gold is just about the campiest computer role-playing game ever written, but if that doesn't bother you--and if you have the patience for the long, tedious combat sequences that plagued the early Wizardry games--then the interesting plot, smooth interface, great character development system, and extensive customizability make this classic CRPG one worth revisiting.
