He was born in Pukekohe (south of Auckland), New Zealand, in 1893.
Comrie was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of London shortly before his death.

"Comrie was the first to turn punched-card equipment to the computation of astronomical tables by the method of finite differences, as envisioned by Babbage 100 years earlier for his Difference Engine, but not practical until the appearance of reliable calculating machines.
Comrie was also a strong proponent of using standard, "off-the-shelf", unmodified hardware (calculators or punched-card equipment), rather than modified, one-of-a-kind, or special-purpose machines because he wanted the methods he developed to be useful to others.
Comrie was elected Fellow of the Royal Society shortly before his death in 1950.

Just as it's become clear Comrie believes he will be happier continuing his NHL career somewhere other than his home town, it is also apparent it's no longer a question of if Comrie will be traded by the Oilers, but when.
Talk at the end of last season was Comrie was so unhappy about being criticized publicly after the Oilers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Dallas Stars, he was questioning his desire to play in Edmonton.
If Comrie has struggled with his celebrity - he's either declined comment or failed to convincingly deny it when pressed - it's a problem that was likely magnified by a summer spent in the City of Angels, where he was just another pretty face.

This has nearly been talked to death (note the lack of Comrie related threads on page one) but I think Comrie made it clear to management that he was not happy in Edmonton and that he wanted out, right from the beginning of training camp.
If you are referring to Comrie's alleged mistreatment at the tailend of last year's season and playoffs, the truth has not come out about that and I suspect it won't at this point.

Suffice to say, it seems if the Oilers move Comrie they are going to have a log jam at either D, goal or forward positions regardless.

From a harsh article in the Edmonton Sun which suggests that Comrie wants out of Edmonton.One thing's certain, unless Lowe has pulled his qualifying offer and is offering a ham sandwich at the table, it's time for Comrie to take the initiative.
Likewise, that playing here at home has brought pressure to bear on and off the ice that Comrie didn't foresee when he bolted the Kootenay Ice of the WHL to strike it rich.
But even with public opinion turning against him, maybe for good, Comrie was not inclined yesterday to say which way he wants it to go.
