There isn't really anything more I can say to stress how brilliant this score is. In no uncertain terms, Conan the Barbarian is an essential addition to any self-respecting film music fan's collection and, in my opinion, is one of the greatest film scores of the eighties.
Conan the Barbarian is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive scores I have ever heard.
The soundtrack was released twice, first in 1982 as an accompaniment to the film on the Milan label, and then again by Varèse in 1989 with approximately twenty minutes of extra music, and I strongly urge you to seek out the latter release at any cost.

Robert E. Howard's pulp Sword and Sorcery hero, well-known to generations of Marvel comic book readers, Conan The Barbarian (played perfectly by Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his earliest roles) makes it to the big screen.
Description: To avenge the murder of his parents, Conan tracks down the evil Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones) with the help of Queen Valeria (played by buff B-movie vixen Sandahl Bergman) and Subotai the Mongol (Gerry Lopez).
But the film (directed by John Milius, co-screenwriter of Apocalypse Now) could have done with some tighter editing since it is overlong and tends to drag.
