Concho County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas.
In the county, the population was spread out with 16.10% under the age of 18, 10.40% from 18 to 24, 38.20% from 25 to 44, 21.50% from 45 to 64, and 13.80% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county was $31,313, and the median income for a family was $36,894.

After peaking at 7,645 in 1930, the population of Concho County began a steady decline that was intensified by the drought of 1950-56.
In 1988, when Concho County was the leading sheep-producing county in Texas, 60 percent of its $15 million in farm income came from sheep, cattle, and goats, and the leading crops were grains and cotton.
In 1990 the population of Concho County was 3,044.

The principal river in the county is the Concho, which is formed by the convergence of the North, Middle, and South Concho rivers.
The Middle Concho and its tributaries, Brushy, Dove, Dry Rocky, East Rocky, West Rocky, and Spring creeks, drain the west central and southwest portions of the county.
The county was officially established by an act of the state legislature on March 13, 1874, from Bexar land, and was named in honor of Confederate Brig.

The Concho River is an easterly-flowing stream that forms in Tom Green County in San Angelo at the confluence of its North and South Forks, then flows about 55 miles to its Colorado River confluence about 12 miles northeast of the Town of Paint Rock.
The Concho River flows through semi-arid farm and ranch land characterized by rolling hills and natural vegetation that includes grasses, cacti, yucci, willows, mesquite, elm and pecan on a scenic river with many limestone outcroppings.
The Concho River offers a great 2 to 5 day trip for paddlers who are properly prepared for remote paddling on a shallow, narrow river, and longer trips can be taken by continuing down the Colorado River, but those would require paddling across O.H. Ivie Reservoir, then portaging around the dam.

 Concho Cemetery, Concho, Texas
A historical marker devoted to the Community of Concho was erected by the Texas Historical Commission in 1983 and stands at the entrance to the cemetery.
The Concho Cemetery remained a typical country cemetery throughout the years, maintained by the citizens of the community of Concho at a yearly “cemetery working.” Charlie and Frankie Cape began performing more regular maintenance on the cemetery in order to keep the grounds from becoming too overgrown.
Concho County Commissioner Elmo Grounds aided the Wells by grading the existing east-west road into the cemetery and creating a north-south road.
