The Concordia Stingers and the McGill Martlets represent the QSSF conference for the second year in a row, but it took six periods of overtime (QSSF record) for the Martlets to overcome 1998 finalist UQTR, to qualify.
Once again the host Concordia Stingers are the team to beat as they enter the Championship the way they began the year, as the number one ranked team in the country.

Before 4,027 deliriously happy fans, the Stingers defeated their crosstown rivals, the McGill Redmen, 45-0 to win the 13th annual Shrine Bowl on Saturday afternoon at Concordia Stadium in Montreal.
