The Conejos River is a tributary of the Rio Grande, approximately 60 mi (100 km) long, in south central Colorado in the United States.
The first settlement of 50 families along the river, in the Guadalupe Grant in 1833, was destroyed in an attack by Native Americans.
The town of Conejos was founded in the 1854 by Lafayette Head, who later became the first lieutenant governor of Colorado.

I've fished that river during June and early July between Aspen Glade and Menkhaven Resort which is of course the fly fishing only section of the river.
At that time I used Green Drakes (size 16s), foam bodied or dubbed bodied ants (size 14s and 16s) and yellow bodied foam hoppers (size 14s and 16s).
That time of year is the rainy season up here (if everyone's lucky cause it's been horribly dry here) so you'll find yourself fishing between thunderstorms, but the fishing is always good no matter.
