Confessor (Sword of Truth) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A confessor is a race of beings in the Midlands, part of the highest social class and primarily female, that were almost entirely wiped out during the reign of Darken Rahl.
Confessors have position according to their power, because the ones with the strongest power will bear daughters who have the best chance of having that stronger power, and so the Mother Confessor is the most powerful Confessor in the order.
A duty of the Mother Confessor's position is to chair the Central Council of the Midlands, and as such is - in practice - the ruler of all the Midlands, though this is not entirely accurate as all the nations of the Midlands have nearly complete autonomy.

The Sword of Truth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sword of Truth belongs to the seeker as long as he or she is alive, or as long as he/she chooses to be Seeker.
The Sword's magic is divided into two halves: Additive and Subtractive, depending on the color of the blade of the Sword of Truth.
A third drawback is that in the end the magic of the Sword of Truth turns the Seeker into a creature similar to Samuel, a small apish, demented creature that is reduced to little but lust, greed, hate, and fear.

Greyboar - Terry Goodkind, The Sword of Truth
Another entry in Goodkind's fantasy Sword of Truth series (Temple of the Winds, 1997, etc.) and a new adventure for Richard, Lord Rahl, the Seeker of Truth and wielder of the Sword of Truth, his wife Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor, and grandfather Zedd the wizard.
Sword of Truth, George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, but in a world of middle books that go nowhere and endless waits between episodes, Goodkind is certainly still serving up some of the best fantasy on today's menu.

The blade severed one of the man’s raised arms before exploding through his skull.” Interestingly, Richard is able to use the Sword of Truth and his other powers only when he reaches a state of anger.
But there is an unfortunate side effect to this power: the person touched is bonded to the confessor for life, exists only to serve the confessor, and will kill himself on the command of the confessor.

 THE ESSAYS
Truth may perhaps come to the price of a pearl, that showeth best by day; but it will not rise to the price of a diamond, or carbuncle, that showeth best in varied lights.
Therefore it is most necessary, that the church, by doctrine and decree, princes by their sword, and all learnings, both Christian and moral, as by their Mercury rod, do damn and send to hell for ever, those facts and opinions tending to the support of the same; as hath been already in good part done.
So that it is in truth, of operation upon a man's mind, of like virtue as the alchemists use to attribute to their stone, for man's body; that it worketh all contrary effects, but still to the good and benefit of nature.

Confessors appear to be ordinary women, distinguished by the length of their hair, and their dresses, made of simple fl fabric, cut with a square neckline.
One touched by a Confessor will do anything she says, including confessing the truth of any crime he may have committed, hence the name "Confessor." The Confessor's power works, not by bringing forth the power, but simply by releasing restraint on that power while touching the intended target.
Because all Confessor's children are Confessors as well, and male child born to a Confessor must be killed at birth.

The forms of opposition to the truth may change, the enmity may be less open because it is more subtle; but the same antagonism still exists and will be manifested to the end of time.

It is, perhaps, none the worse as an illustration that it presents the dogmatic habit in an extreme form, and, in the opinion of the biographer at least, in perverted action.

There is a lot of sword and sorcery action here, and although it has a darker tone than most fantasies, there is also a strain of humor unseen in works by Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, or David Eddings.

That the Celtic, not the Latin, race populated the British Isles was a determining factor, for the Christian churches in which Patrick had been reared received their doctrine, not from Rome, but from their brethren of the same faith in Asia Minor.
There were points of difference as is recorded in her Life, written by her priestly confessor, Turgot.37 The first two points were relative to the age long controversy about Easter.
As pointed out in the story of Patrick, the opposition to the Ten Commandments failed to recognize that the culminating reason for the death of Christ upon the cross was that while becoming man's substitute He was to uphold the moral law.
